I was never raised around perfection but around hard work and determination, but I grew up around it. This was confusing as I as my own person never knew where I really belonged. This created the adaptable, flexible person that I am. I was always confused between what I wanted to do and what I was expected to do. I could not do what was expected from me, as I was cheating myself as a person and I could not do what I wanted as there were certain expectations and I saw too much disappoint in my lifetime and would rather die than disappoint.
This does say a lot about me, about what I am, who I am, and how I go about doing things.
I guess this made me the person that does not do anything without have any form of ulterior motive, good or bad. This was the only way of fulfilling expectations and personal needs, killing two birds with one funky ass stone.
I guess I never stayed true to myself, or maybe I have finally found myself, who knows...
I'm not here to make a difference. I'm here to say what I want, when I want and how I want. Maybe that will make a difference.

Believe the Old Folk
I was in church and I was looking at the younger generation and it suddenly hit me. What the old people were telling us in Catechism classes (Sunday school for the Protestants) is actually true. Coz let’s be honest, old people are bullshit a lot of the time. But I actually now know what they mean...
We all know that teaching starts at home and all those clichés but damn this one was on point.
The traditions and teachings are really watering down as there is no influence from the elders as they are either dead or could not really care anymore.
When I was younger I thought that they were hyping it up that we should start leading by example and felt that at that age I was too young for that but now I see what they meant, and right now one cannot be that example as we are not around that much. The people that took up the challenge of leading by example are either very hypocritical or are just messed up right about now.
This was a serious reality check for me and next time, take it from me. Believe the hype! And the old folk!

Sloppy Seconds
Ah high school, some of the best and worst times that we could ever have. Do you still remember the term “sloppy seconds”? If you don’t, let me refresh your aged memory, sloppy seconds is when you get with a girl/guy that one of your friends have gotten with.
Now at high school, sloppy seconds was a big no. You never get with a friends previous flame. This was only excusable under extreme circumstances like the annual house party or braai at a friend’s house where alcohol was involved, that was the only exception for having sloppy seconds.
It has occurred to me that after high school that term seizes to exist. So I have been wondering why and have come to the following conclusions: 1) the fight or chase for girls becomes rather tough and people tends not to want to struggle and ends up going for whatever. 2) At high school we all had that certain image to maintain, whether it is the role of jock, nerd or whatever. We would rather be cool than get some.
Thing is, sloppy seconds used to be fun as we have heard the stories (yes guys gossip as well) so we know how far we can push the boundaries and what is allowed and what is not. YEAH I SAID IT!
Just something that came to mind, weird I know. Just remember next time you have sloppy seconds, think of the seconds as a shoe, seeing that it has been worn it, it makes it more comfortable.
Disclaimer: I have not implicated anyone in this piece, and I apologise to all that I have offended.
